Broken Skewer

Broken SkewerBroken Skewer

Well, it looks like I have more bicycle parts I need to buy. Thursday morning on my way to work I was about 4.5 miles into my ride when suddenly it was like someone slammed on my back brakes. Right as I came to a stop I heard a ping and my skewer shot all the way into the middle of the street.

How to earn $1.50 a day, and save the environment at the same time.

As you may know I drive a 1982 Volkswagen diesel pickup which when subjected to my daily driving conditions achieves a very respectable 38-39 MPG. Of course at the gas station around the corner diesel fuel has now reached $3.99 a gallon, which now means that I spend a little more than $1 for every 10 miles I drive. My daily commute to work is 16 miles round trip so every day I spend at least $1.50 in fuel costs alone not even considering the usual periodic vehicle maintenance.
